Professional Summary
After earning a degree in Building Inspection from Scottsdale Community College, Joe received numerous offers from local area builders and decided not to continue at ASU. When his field was hit hard by the Savings & Loan crisis in the 80’s, Joe’s career took a detour; he tended bar, waited on tables and managed several restaurants. He learned first-hand the importance of taking care of customers, developing good listening skills and leading by example. Joe believes those skills are the basics for any business owner: “That hiccup in my career provided some valuable lessons that served me well during the years I was an agent and now as a company owner and broker.” Joe opened Phoenician Properties Realty in November 2001.

Philosophy
"To me, real estate is a business." Joe says, "Even though it’s a job we love, it’s still a job. If any of my agents tell me real estate is their life, I try to help them refocus. I want them to be successful and have fun with the career they’ve chosen, but they should understand it’s a means to an end. I want them to enjoy their lives, their families most of all.
"I tell my salespeople to focus on customer referrals, and I do the same thing. I’m a non-competing broker, so my only customers are my salespeople, and I work hard to earn their referrals. When they’re happy, they want to share that feeling. It’s no different from finding a great restaurant or movie or vacation spot. You want to tell your friends. And since I don’t offer any monetary reward for bringing in a new agent, it’s strictly one person wanting to include another in a positive experience. Agents here like each other. They support each other. And there’s no jealousy or tension because they understand when you work by referral, you’re in competition with yourself not other agents."
